West Branch to Reopen Earlier Than Expected

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (August 12, 2026) —The Jefferson County Clerk's Office announced that its West Branch location will reopen earlier than planned after an extended closure for repairs of flood-related damage caused by severe storms earlier this year.
The West Branch will resume normal operations on Monday, Aug. 17, 2026, after contractors complete repairs and improvements designed to address the flooding issues that impacted the location and forced the temporary closure.
The branch had been closed since July 31 while crews conducted remediation work and implemented measures to restore the facility and ensure a safe environment for customers and staff.
"The West Branch plays an important role in serving residents of west Louisville, and we're excited to reopen our doors after completing the necessary repairs," said Jefferson County Clerk David Yates.
"We appreciate the community's patience during this temporary closure and remain committed to providing accessible, efficient service to every resident of Jefferson County," Yates said.
The West Branch will provide its full range of motor vehicle services, including vehicle registrations, license plate renewals, title transactions, and other related services.
The West Branch is in French Plaza at 228 Amy Avenue in Louisville's Shawnee neighborhood.
