Kentucky Revised Statute Section 64.012 as amended by House Bill 537, mandates the following fee changes:
Motor Vehicle Renewal: $21
Motor Vehicle Renewal of 10,000 lb Plates or Greater: Varies by Weight
Motor Vehicle Transfer: $17
Motor Vehicle Title Application: $9
Title Lien Statement: $22
Permanent Disabled Placard: $0
Temporary Disabled Placard: $0
Duplicate Title Fee: $6 (Plus applicable $2 notary or processing fee)
Duplicate Registration Fee: $3
Lien penalty for late MV Taxes: $2
Marriage License: $35.50
There will be a $10.00 fee for a “Replacement” or a Second Disabled Placard.

The Office of Property Valuation has informed our office that an error was found in the valuation of vehicles 25 years or older. The vehicle values that were identified with an incorrect value have since been corrected to their fair cash value. Unfortunately, the vehicle renewal notices for January and February will reflect the incorrect value for these vehicles.
Please know the Jefferson County Clerk’s Office is only responsible for the collection of these taxes. The values assessed and placed into the computer system and ultimately printed onto the renewal notices are the responsibility of the Office of Property Valuation, Motor Vehicle Tax Branch.
