Early Life and Education
Originally from South Louisville, David graduated from Holy Cross High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Louisville in 2003, followed by a Juris Doctor from Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University in 2006.
Professional Journey
David began his legal career as a law clerk for United States District Judge William Bertelsman and later worked at the Commonwealth Attorney's office. From 2006 to 2008, he served as the Assistant Attorney General of Kentucky before becoming an attorney for the UAW. For nearly 15 years, he has managed his own law practice, focusing on personal injury law.
Political Career
In 2010, David made history as the youngest member elected to the Louisville Metro Council, serving until 2020. During his tenure, he was elected twice by his peers to the role of Louisville Metro Council President for two consecutive terms, making him the youngest individual ever to hold that position. After being elected to the Kentucky Senate in November 2020, he took office in January 2021 and held a leadership role as the Minority Whip.

David lives in South Louisville with his wife, Lindsey, and their daughters, Ava and Grace.
